Mobilise.org strives to bring clarity to the production of mobile phones and to give the consumer the ability to chose with covering knowledge and a clear conscience. The mobilise projects each focus on one area within the entire production process and aim to shed a light and make it understandable for the consumer.

Coltan is short for “columbite-tantalite,” a metallic substance that is used to make capacitors for cell phones, laptops, televisions and other devices. Approximately 80% of the world’s coltan comes from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where civil wars have left a devastating wake of human rights violations and environmental destruction.

Foxconn China is the largest apple product supplier and has admitted to using underage interns in factories in China, employing children as young as 14. It’s the latest in the string of scandals surrounding the company’s activity in the country.

Further projects include coverage of the ethical implications and breaches in the areas of television, laptop and computer, camera production and many more among the department of electronics.
